Eating Rights
Throughout this semester, I carefully observed and noticed that the number of students who came late to lunch cannot eat enough food. On the other hand, students that come to lunch earlier can grab whatever they like.
To help you to understand better, here's an example. Let's say there is a boy named Timmy. He is eager to come as the first on line to take the menu as much as he likes. He will usually take a pile of food that satisfies himself. After Timmy, there isn't enough for the rest of the students to get equally. One Timmy becomes two and more because no one wants leftover. As the result, whoever comes late will end up with some leftover or none left for them except rice.
This doesn't only affect students. Teachers often end up with mostly nothing. Teachers will never grab lunch before students as they have to dismiss their classes and get ready are their next class before they line up for lunch.
Middle and high school students deserve equal amount of nutrition for their lunch to grow taller and stronger. Uneven nutrition will not only impact their growth, but their emotion as they feel unfairness. Everyone is equal and deserves to eat the same amount of food. Over the weeks, I usually came on time at lunch, but sometimes I came late due to my conversation with my friends. Whenever I came late, I clearly noticed how the menu of the day ran out or almost gone. There are more students behind me and this limits me to fill up my tray. The lunch ladies usually have extra food for us, but it is not always guarantee for extra.
If Timmy takes only the menu as he pleases, he will have limited nutrition to become healthy. As well as the rest of the students behind Timmy will gradually think how it is not fair for them. This can lead a high chance for them to either join Timmy or lack nutrition. School is not only the place to fill our knowledge. It is a place where us, students, and teachers eat to stay healthy and happy. Why don't we look behind us before we stack our tray with the menu of the day?
