Halloween 2024 ππ

History of Halloween
Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, over 2,000 years ago, marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter when it was believed that spirits could roam the earth. The Celts lit bonfires and wore costumes to ward off these ghosts. With the Roman Empire's conquest of Celtic lands, traditions from Roman festivals like Feralia and Pomona were combined with Samhain. In the 8th century, Pope Gregory III moved All Saints' Day to November 1st, making October 31st All Hallows' Eve, which later became Halloween. Irish and Scottish immigrants brought Halloween to North America in the 19th century. It evolved into a community celebration with trick-or-treating, costumes, and jack-o'-lanterns, inspired by the legend of Stingy Jack. Today, it is a secular holiday marked by festivities, costumes, and fun.
Halloween in ASP
We slightly celebrated Halloween in ASP. The decorations and Trick or Treat gave a frightening mood of Halloween. A few students even dressed up!
