Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been at war with the Palestinian Sunni Islamist group Hamas. Israel attacks Qatar because of the Hamas. Qatar holds Hamas' political office and the Israeli wanted to kill the important leaders in the group. Hamas says that no leaders died. On 7 October 2023, Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups launched a surprise attack on Israel, in which 1,195 Israelis and foreign nationals, including 815 civilians, were killed, and 251 taken hostage with the stated goal of forcing Israel to release Palestinian prisoners. Since the start of the Israeli offensive that followed, over 64,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed, almost half of them women and children, and more than 164,000 injured.

The Israel attacked the Hamas because Hamas officials stated that the attack was a response to the Israeli occupation, blockade of the Gaza Strip, desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Israeli settler violence against Palestinians.
