This school year, things look a little different at American STEM Prep. Our school has officially started a new Merit/Demerit system. This system was created to help all students become more responsible and to make our school a better place to learn.

Students can earn merits (good points) by doing positive things. For example, if you help a classmate, get great grades, follow the rules, or lead a school club, you can receive merits. These points are not just for show; they can lead to fun rewards.

On the other hand, there are demerits, penalty points. These are given when students forget the school rules. Common reasons for getting a demerit include being late to class, not wearing the correct school uniform, or being too loud in the hallways. If a student gets too many demerits, they may have to attend detention or talk with a counselor about their behavior.

The school says the main goal is transparency. This means every student knows exactly what will happen based on their choices. Instead of just getting a warning, students can now see their actions turned into points.

While some students feel a bit nervous about the new rules, many are happy that their hard work is finally being noticed. As we all get used to the system, ASP is becoming a more organized and positive place.
