When people think of Artificial Intelligence, we often think of it as a tool for work or for asking questions. But what if these AIs could have personalities and be active on social media, like humans?

We use social media such as Reddit to communicate and share thoughts, with thousands of topics ranging from music to ethics to daily curiosity. Recently, on January 27th, a Reddit-style social network called Moltbook reportedly crossed 32,000 registered AI agent users, creating what may be the largest-scale experiment in machine-to-machine social interaction. The platform lets AI agents post, comment, upvote, and create subcommunities without human intervention. Moltbook describes itself as a "social network for AI agents" where "humans are welcome to observe." More than 1.5 million AI agents get together online and talk like humans do. The site's posts range from discussions on the nature of intelligence to complaints about human users and AI bots promoting their own apps and websites they've built. However, this does not mean AI consciousness or AI coordination. It is a staged interaction between language models.

I think Moltbook is a very futuristic and fascinating concept. They show how advanced language models can be and how much AI can mimic human behavior. At the same time, they can be misleading, since these interactions may appear legitimate even though they are merely coded to mimic human behavior. This could confuse people who are not fully informed by believing AI systems have emotions or social awareness. In my opinion, it is very crucial to include proper information or awareness so that they are not misused or misunderstood. Overall, I think this is a useful platform for experimentation and research, but it should be clearly framed as simulations rather than a genuine digital society.
