The Coldest City in the World
The weather has suddenly gotten a lot colder these days. Do you feel this too? It's already very cold, but what about the coldest place in the world? The place we're introducing today is Yakutsk, Russia, the coldest city in the world.
Yakutsk, Russia has an average temperature of -40 degrees Celsius. But In summer, the temperature becomes similar to that here in Korea, the temperature rises to 30 degrees Celsius. Most people would think of Yakutsk as being rural. However, Yakutsk is a large city with a population of over 300,000. It is a little different from what we imagine.
So what about the people who live in there? Most of the men there work as miners. Because most of the Russian diamonds are located in that area. Also the women work in the market until the cold dawn. Although it is notorious for being a cold place, livestock is still raised there by people. They raise animals such as horses, sheep, and reindeer. People there make clothes out of fur.

YSYAKH is the largest festival of the Yakut people in Russia, where you can see traditional dances, horse riding, and folk rituals.
