Where Are They Now? Alumni Update
Do you have any concerns about life after graduation? This article might help you . Three months ago, the class of 2026 at ASP had graduated high school. Our proud alumni were Rj Kim and Alex Kim. Right now, both of them are enjoying the campus life. The purpose of the article is to provide updates on our ASP Alumni. Here are a few interview questions.
Rj Kim is attending the University of Michigan and majoring in Sports Medicine.
Q: What did you do during the summer break?
A: “I spent most of my summer relaxing, meeting my friends, and preparing for college.”
Interesting! It sounds like you had a nice and productive summer.
Q: How was your campus life?
A: “Campus life was really exciting. One of my favorite memories was the New Student Convocation at the Crisler Center. Thousands of freshmen were wearing maize and blue shirts, and we all sang ‘The Victors’ together with the Michigan band. After the event, we went to a big tailgate barbecue. It was one of the first times I really felt like I was part of the Michigan community.”
That sounds really fun. It seems like you made a lot of great memories at school.
Q: Is there anything that you want to tell the juniors?
A: “I would say don’t be afraid to try new things. Enjoy your time at school, but also start preparing for your future early.”
That’s great advice. I think a lot of juniors would find that helpful.
Rj is fully enjoying his new campus life while deeply focusing on his academic studies in University. He dreams of becoming a one of the top sports medicine specialists who help athletes recover from injuries and grow to perform at their absolute best.
Alex Kim is who attending to StonyBrook University and majoring Computer Science.
Q: What did you do during the summer break?
A: “During the summer, I traveled to Busan with my family, spent time with my friends, and worked on a small coding project. I also visited the beach and explored different places with my family.”
That sounds like a busy summer! I especially like that you used some of your free time to work on a coding project while also traveling and spending time with people close to you.
Q: How was your campus life?
A: “Campus life was really exciting. One of my favorite memories was the Welcome Convocation during Welcome Week. A lot of students wore red Stony Brook shirts, and there was a live DJ, dance performances, and giveaways.”
That sounds like a great way to start college! I especially like live DJ, and dance performances.
Q: Is there anything that you want to tell the junior?
A: “Try to find something you are genuinely interested in and keep working on it. For me, coding started as an interest, but it eventually became something I wanted to study in college.”
I really like your point that school goes by faster than we expect, and experiences and memories they make along the way matter. I think juniors should definitely keep that in mind.
Alex’s experiences show that school is not only about grades, but also about trying new things, building relationships, and finding what you enjoy. His interest in coding continues to shape his future, as he hopes to become a software developer and use technology to make a positive impact. For students who are getting closer to graduation, now is the time to make the most of the opportunities around you, explore your interests, and create memories you will carry with you into the future.
