Hardest AP subjects

Advanced Placement classes are college-level courses developed by the College Board and taught in high school. Currently, there are a total of 40 AP classes offered. We can't really define which of these classes is the hardest. However, through statistics and people's general opinion, we can infer which AP subjects the students would likely feel are more challenging than the others.

According to an article from CollegeVine, the percentage of students who scored a 3 or higher varied among subjects.

The "easiest" subjects included:

• Chinese Language (Total Group) (88.5%)
• Research (86.1%)                                
• Seminar (85.7%)
• Art and Design – Drawing (83.8%)
• Spanish Language (Total Group) (82.9%)
• Art and Design – 2D (82.8%)
• Calculus BC (80.9%)
• Spanish Language (Standard Group) (79.4%)
• Physics C Mechanics (76.3%)
• Chemistry (75.6%)
• English Literature (72.4%)
• United States History (72.2%)

The "hardest" subjects included:

• Art History (62.7%)
• Statistics (61.8%)
• Psychology (61.7%)
• German Language (Standard Group) (61.2%)
• Music Theory (60.2%)
• Latin (56.5%)
• Human Geography (56.1%)
• English Language (54.6%)
• Environmental Science (54.1%)
• Japanese Language (Standard Group) (53.9%)
• Physics 1 (47.3%)

Honestly, I thought all of the "hardest" subjects would have been related to either math, science, or computer science. I was surprised by how subjects covering art, language, and music had only about a 60 percent passing rate.

Chinese Language had the highest passing rate, and Physics 1 had the lowest. I'm planning to take AP Physics 1 next year. I have never taken any physics class, and taking Physics 1 will be my first encounter with the world of physics. I am excited and worried at the same time. I could have avoided taking Physics 1, but I decided to face the obstacle that could ruin my GPA. I mean, how BAD could it possibly be?
